Our Values and Approach

Ethical, collaborative, and grounded in systemic thinking – we meet complexity with curiosity, care and clarity.

At Schilling CTS, our work is guided by a deep respect for the people we support – and by a strong ethical foundation rooted in systemic and social constructionist thinking. We draw inspiration from the ideas and practices of Gregory Bateson, Humberto Maturana, John Dewey, the Milan School, Michael White, Tom Andersen and Ludwig Wittgenstein. These thinkers continue to shape the way we listen, reflect, and engage in meaningful dialogue with professionals, teams and organisations.

A resource-focused approach

We believe that all individuals – whether professionals, parents or children – hold valuable resources and competencies. But sometimes, life and work can become stuck, and we lose direction. In those moments, we don’t need judgement. We need connection. We need dialogue. And we need someone to help us rediscover clarity and renewed energy for the road ahead.

We see our role as co-thinkers and co-creators – people who help you notice patterns, question assumptions, and unlock new possibilities. Sometimes that involves creative disruption. Other times, it means offering steady companionship, inspiration, or simply a fresh perspective that opens new ways forward.

From symptoms to signals of meaning

We believe that symptoms – in individuals, teams or systems – are not just problems to be solved, but messages pointing to what needs attention or change. They can hold valuable insights into unspoken needs, systemic imbalances or unrealised potential.

We see people not as isolated individuals, but as active co-creators in complex human, cultural and biological systems of meaning, behaviour, emotion and relationship. That’s why we never work in isolation – but always with attention to context, collaboration and the broader networks around each case or setting.

What our clients experience

In our work, we create environments where people feel safe, seen, and energised to take action. We aim to support:

  • Clearer and more reflective decision-making

  • Increased capacity to manage professional complexity

  • Strengthened collaboration and dialogue

  • Deepened professional purpose

  • Sustainable change anchored in everyday practice

We help professionals build respectful, creative, focused and coherent ways of engaging with their roles, their systems – and themselves.

Our ethical commitment

We always work from a position of neutrality – but not distance. We understand that by stepping into your system, we become part of it. This calls for humility, transparency and ethical sensitivity. We listen carefully, honour the voices of all involved, and ensure the broader referral system and relevant professionals are acknowledged and included.

Our methods are grounded in systemic communication and relational practice. But above all, we lead with curiosity, care and collaboration – because we believe that good work is not just about what we know, but how we connect.
