I’m Benedicte Schilling – licensed psychologist, specialist, and supervisor – with over 30 years of experience in the frontline of social services, education, and interdisciplinary professional development.

Since 1989, I’ve worked with vulnerable children, adolescents, and families affected by trauma, psychiatric illness, out-of-home placements, and social marginalization. Over the years, my focus has increasingly shifted to the professionals and leaders working in these challenging contexts. My passion lies in creating psychologically safe learning spaces where people and organizations can grow – with a strong awareness of context, ethics, and professional responsibility.

Since 1992, I’ve supervised and consulted with interdisciplinary professionals and leadership teams across schools, municipalities, social services, PPR units, residential institutions, and civil society organizations – both in Denmark and internationally.

In 2008, I developed the Professional Development Approach – a collaborative model of supervision now used widely across welfare organizations. The approach strengthens reflective practice, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and practical learning – especially in complex and high-pressure environments.

What I offer:

Individual, group and team-based supervision
Leadership coaching and strategic consultation
Advisory support in high-complexity cases
Cross-professional collaboration and team development
Supervisor training and supervision-of-supervisors

My approach is systemic, context-sensitive, and ethically grounded. I work with a deep respect for both the human and the organizational sides of every challenge – and I am not afraid to step into difficult and uncertain terrain to support clarity and sustainable solutions.

A few milestones from my journey:

🔹 In 1994, I helped launch the Danish national Children’s Hotline and served as its first Chair.
🔹 Since 2008 and for 10 Years, I’ chaired the Danish Society for Supervision within the Danish Psychological Association.
🔹 I’m a registered member of UKCP (as a systemic psychotherapist) and AFT in the UK.
🔹 In 2013, I co-founded the Peter Lang Foundation and the website peterlangsystemiccommunity.com.
🔹 I’m the author of several books and numerous articles on supervision, professional learning, systemic methods, and the ethical challenges faced by professionals working with children, families, and marginalized populations.

My clients typically experience:

  • Increased professional clarity and confidence

  • Stronger interdisciplinary teamwork and communication

  • Renewed energy and meaning in their professional roles

  • Safe spaces for reflection and co-creation

  • Greater alignment between values, action, and context

Whether you’re a leader, a team, or a frontline practitioner, I help you navigate the complex spaces between people, systems, and professional responsibility – and turn them into meaningful, sustainable practice.
